crossinn penally wales

Reviews from Trip Advisor and Facebook up to 2021

Excellent meal, and friendly staff.
Had a great value meal at the Cross Inn. The menu is typical pub grub: portions are generous and very tasty. The "Welsh Curry" was not as fiery as I expected, but very good none the less! Decent beer too, including from the excellent Harbwr Brewery in Tenby.
Recommended, but suggest you ring ahead to book as space is currently limited because of covid-19 precautions.

It's a proper village pub serving fine beer and wholesome pub food by lovely people to some of the nicest folk I have ever known.
I do so miss it!

Top Pub Grub
The web site for this delightful, atmospheric village pub gives the impression the only food available are bar snacks. However, we were delighted to find an area of set tables with a full three-course menu plus specials board. The food is typical pub grub and is both plentiful and tasty. Local bitters plus a very nice Herefordshire cider are available plus a range of wines. We will be dining here at least once more during our holiday in Penally.

“Cosy Local Pub”
Had lunch time sandwiches here which were fresh but a little over priced.
The bar was nice and friendly though and the outside terrace a pleasure to sit on in the sun with a beautiful view.
“Sunday Lunch... a must”
We have been coming to Penally for several years and have always enjoyed our real ale here. This year we decided to have our Sunday Lunch there we were not disapointed! 10 of our party had already booked and when we added 4 more we were warned that there could be a delay, this was not the case . Our orders were taken promptly and we were served quickly. The portions will satisfy the largest appetities with ample amount of well cooked meat and a good selection of fresh vegetables. Overall this is outstanding value for money at under £10 for 3 courses. If you're in the area do give it a try but be warned book first.

“character and charm”
good food, good beer and plenty of sunshine.
Having arrived in Tenby at midday we decided to walk to Penally alongside the golf course and railway line. A very pleasant 30 minute walk to work up a thirst and an appetite.
On arriving at the Cross Inn the four of us had drinks outside with views overlooking the golf course, Giltar Point and Caldy Island. Worms Head was visible in the distance.
Inside the pub its full of character and charm with separate eating and bar area.
There was a good choice of meals and lunchtime menu was quite varied. Two of us had cod and chips and the other couple had the steak and ale pie. Food and service were excellent and I look forward to my next visit.
After such a good meal and a couple of beers, ladies had wine, we decided to get the bus back into Tenby, they run hourly from Penally 20 minutes to the hour.
Luckily being welsh we were able to use our bus passes

'Super service, nice food' 26 October 2011
We ate here on two evenings during our stay in Penally ; both times the staff couldn't have been more charming and helpful.... and efficient! The menu is more or less what you'd expect from a sea side pub, and lives up to it's promise. We also popped in for a lunch time drink two or three times, and again found it a lovely place to relax and look at the beautiful scenery.
'Great Sunday lunch' 15 December 2010
We called in on spec and had a really good quality Sunday lunch. Plenty of everything, piping hot and extra veg if you wanted it. Staff were friendly, polite and attentive. We'll be back.
